You can find Betty LaBranche Real Estate in the heart of downtown Exeter, with a multitude of boutiques, shopping venues, and small businesses. Our area has a rich history that dates back to 1638 when Exeter was settled by Reverend John Wheelwright. It served as a seaport and as the revolutionary capital of New Hampshire, with many town landmarks carrying significance to New Hampshire and American history. We welcome you to explore the town of Exeter and take in these pieces of history.
- The Bandstand, located at the intersection of Water and Front Streets, was given to Exeter by Ambrose Swasey in 1916. It is the entertainment hub for the Exeter Brass Band, founded in 1847 with annual summer performances there to this day. The Bandstand continues to remain the focal point of Downtown Exeter and the Historic District, with easy access to all of the downtown attractions.
- The Swasey Parkway was another gift from Ambrose Swasey in 1931. It is one of Exeter’s most popular destinations, with walking paths and park benches that line the Squamscott River. A recent addition to the park is the Pavilion, used for summer concerts and a variety of seasonal events. The Swasey Parkway is the perfect place to enjoy a walk or picnic and take in Exeter’s natural beauty!
- The American Independence Museum features history from America’s revolutionary past, highlighting the stories of the men and women who founded our country. It holds original drafts of the U.S. Constitution and one of the original printings of the Declaration of Independence, found in Exeter. The Museum also offers programs and events throughout the year – most notably its popular July Independence Festival.
